So… Remember when you configure your Livebox for your local home network, Orange enforces you to use the usual lowercase/uppercase/number/symbol shenanigan as your admin password ?
I mean sure, “admin:livebox” is not great security, but in a home private network, does it really matter ?
Now, what if I told you that Orange, used “ripeadmin” as a password for their… RIPE admin account (this is basically the foundation of their internet traffic).
And what if I told you that some hackers did not think “Bwah, too easy, let’s not even try this one”, but tried it, gained access, and bombed Orange Spain for a few hours ?
Crazy no? But it just happened !
